dis’pers is an ambient electroacoustic project by Caleb Garfinkel that explores the sonic possibilities of a guitar and a computer. Finding a meeting point between two unique instruments and using hand-built software, dis’pers weaves and sculpts layers of processed guitar into vast textural soundscapes. The project pushes the guitar beyond its natural sounds into that which is sometimes digital, sometimes glitchy, and sometimes experimental, but always driven to enhance the beauty of its strings.

Following in the footsteps of Christopher Willits, Robert Fripp and Christian Fennesz, the project is the result of 4 years of research and a Masters project exploring means of processing guitar using computers in improvised live performance.
